Kukła demokracji, karzeł religii. Tocqueville i problem teologiczno-polityczny

Abstract
Artykuł rozpoczyna się od rozważenia myśli Jacoba Taubesa, wedle której relacja teologii i polityki widoczna jest w problemie hierarchii i rang społecznych. Taubes sugeruje, że podważenie idei transcendentalnego Boga pociąga za sobą nieuchronnie zrównanie tradycyjnych podziałów społecznych. Czerpiąc z myśli Alexisa de Tocqueville’a, autor pokazuje następnie, że związek teologii i polityki można rozumieć w sposób bardziej zniuansowany, co pozwala na podtrzymanie żywej, auntentycznej wiary religijnej w czasach demokratycznej równości. Za pomocą pojęć i figur intelektualnych zaczerpniętych z pism Waltera Benjamina autor opisuje, w jaki sposób Tocqueville stara się ułożyć relacje między świeckim i świętym bez konieczności sięgania po klasyczne, liberalne rozwiązanie problemu teologiczno-politycznego polegające na wprowadzeniu państwa nautralnego światopoglądowo.
