Autorem recenzowanej książki Zmierzch Wschodu. Jak Chiny stały się potęgą i czy grozi im upadek jest Yasheng Huang, pochodzący z Pekinu, od czterech dekad pracujący w Stanach Zjednoczonych profesor ekonomii globalnej i zarządzania w MIT Sloan School of Management, gdzie założył i kieruje China Lab oraz India Lab. Jego badania koncentrują się na uwarunkowaniach rozwoju kapitału ludzkiego w Chinach i Indiach. Książka została opublikowana w języku polskim (przeł. Michał Głatki) w 2024 roku przez Wydawnictwo Prześwity (ss. 558), rok od jej pierwszego wydania w języku angielskim w 2023 roku (Huang, Y. (2023). The Rise and Fall of the East. How Exams, Autocracy, Stability, and Technology Brought China Success, and Why They Might Lead to Its Decline. New Haven: Yale University Press, ss. 440). Składa się ona z przedmowy, wstępu i pięciu części. Tytułowy Wschód (EAST) oznacza nie tylko Chiny, ale także osadzone w historii pojęcia: egzaminy (Exams), autokrację (Autocracy), stabilność (Stability) i technikę (Technology), którym przyporządkowane są części 1–4 recenzowanej pozycji.
