Przemiany tożsamości cywilizacji europejskiej

Section: Thematic Articles

Abstract

RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The purpose of the article is to describe the nature of the identity of European civilization and the directions of its transformation, taking into account the factors initiating the process of transformation. The results obtained will allow to formulate conclusions and identify areas of potential crisis.

THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The main research problems concern the specificity of the sources of identity of European civilization and the elements that stimulate its transformation. The research is interdisciplinary in nature. A comparative method was used, taking into account the explanatory value of the civilization approach.

THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The content is divided into parts. The first contains an introduction to the subject of the article. The second describes the research approach used. The third part refers to the sources of European identity and the directions of its transformation. The main part closes with a characterization of the factors initiating the transformation.

RESEARCH RESULTS: The identity of European civilization is influenced by natural sources and symbolic sources. Symbolic sources include ancient Greek philosophy, the system of Roman law, the Christian religion, the culture of barbarian tribes and the intellectual achievements of the Age of Enlightenment. Traditional identity is being transformed. Factors generating this process, include the influence of new philosophical systems, secularization of the cultural space, atheization of society with the growing importance of neopaganism and religious sects. Superimposed on this is the phenomenon of multiculturalism and Islamization.

CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS: European civilization is a community of values. If Europeans do not take care of their identity, the impact of the factors initiating its transformation will lead to an irreversible transformation of European culture, detaching identity from its traditional roots.
