RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: To define the conditions for integrating politics and law for the common good.
THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: Research problem involves establishing which conditions of social life are conducive to integrating politics and law for the common good. Two research methods were used, i.e., the method of analysis and criticism of literature and sources in law, history and philosophy, and the method of analysis and logical construction using deductive reasoning.
THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: Politics and law are interdependent categories, politics being the practical source of positive law and law organises the social and political life. Classical philosophy defines both categories as area of attention for common good, which exists in natural order of social life, based on the interdependence and responsibility of individuals and communities. However the deficit of axiological awareness of society contribute to the creation of laws motivated by particular interests of politicians or lobbyists.
RESEARCH RESULTS: The analysis of the research problem leads to recognising the need to integrate politics and law for the common good as a condition for the development and survival of political communities. Of particular importance in this process is the axiological awareness of society, which is the ultimate adjustment factor with respect to the domains of politics and law, necessary for the upholding and development of the underlying values of the common good.
CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS: The pursuance of the common good in the closely related domains of politics and law requires building axiological awareness through education and formation of society, while measures taken in this regard don’t need to be attributable solely to public authorities. The result of growing awareness of the common good should be formal and social control of the constitutionality of legal acts based on the criterion of their impact on the common good
