SCIENTIFIC OBJECTIVE: The article aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the electronic supervision system and its rehabilitation aspects as an alternative to the isolation model of imprisonment.
PROBLEM AND RESEARCH METHODS: The author, by analyzing source texts and using statistical data, shows the social rehabilitation possibilities of the electronic supervision system, as well as the effects of using this system as a non-custodial model of imprisonment.
PROCESS OF THE DISCLOSURE: The author, after discussing the historical outline of the institution of electronic supervision, analyzing the prerequisites necessary to meet a sentence of imprisonment in the electronic supervision system and its structure, focuses on discussing its main aspects of social rehabilitation.
RESULTS OF SCIENTIFIC ANALYSIS: The author drew attention to the benefits and social rehabilitation functions of the non-custodial model of serving a sentence of imprisonment. Thanks to the statistical data, practical details of the functioning of the electronic supervision system in Poland and the fact of its increasingly common use have been shown.
CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS, RECOMMENDATIONS: Conducting an in-depth analysis of source texts allowed for unequivocal confirmation of the thesis that the electronic supervision system plays a very important role in the rehabilitation process of convicts. Moreover, the statistical data show a definitely positive impact of the application of the electronic supervision system on the finances of the State Treasury, therefore, the increasingly wider scope of application of this model of imprisonment seems to be fully justified.
