RESEARCH OBJECTIVE:
The main objective of the article is to present theological, philosophical and cultural causes in the perspective of the postmodernist analysis.
THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS:
The research issue focuses on indicating genuine, considerable influence of postmodernist and empirical ideas on creating human religiousness. Two methods relying on text analysis and a synthesis of conclusions will be applied.
THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION:
In the beginning, philosophical ideas referring to epistemology of modernism and postmodernism with the influence of empirical cognition will be presented. Then, on the basis of the analysis by Benedict XVI and other thinkers, we will be seeking scientific responses (relating to philosophy and theology) to the secularisation of European societies.
RESEARCH RESULTS:
Despite an uncompromising attitude of postmodernists, there is a possibility of agreement between reason and faith in the existential and transcendent dimension.
CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS:
The existing problem of secularisation needs to be solved on the basis of epistemological conceptions, and simultaneously, on the appropriate anthropological conception. These results are, most of all, recommended to communities of ardent thinkers.
