RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The aim of the article is to describe the entrepreneurial attitudes of young people analyzed in terms of the place of residence and to show the changes that took place in 2017–2021. These attitudes were examined from the point of view of self-esteem as well as barriers and factors motivating young people to start their own business.
THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The article uses the results of own research conducted among young people aged 18 to 25 in 2017 and 2021, conducted with the use of questionnaires, adopting the criterion of place of residence. The results of the research are presented in the form of graphs and tables, using statistical tools to characterize the studied factors.
THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The first part of the article reviews the literature on the subject on entrepreneurial attitudes and uses statistical data published by the Central Statistical Office - Economic activity of the Polish population, Q4 2020 published in April 2021. The empirical part of the article describes the results of own research covering many aspects influencing the shaping of entrepreneurial attitudes, such as: the characteristics of the respondents, the definition of entrepreneurial intentions, and an indication of barriers and factors motivating the development of entrepreneurship.
RESEARCH RESULTS: The results of the conducted research show that the entrepreneurial attitudes of young people are diversified in terms of the criterion of the place of residence. Changes were also found in the entrepreneurial attitudes of young people aged 18–25 in 2017 and 2021.
CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS: By adopting the criterion of the place of residence, significant differences in the attitudes of young respondents were indicated, which leads to the conclusion that the directions of entrepreneurship support should be differentiated due to this feature.
