Editorial: In an Age of Global Conflicts – the Problem of Political Power in the First Half of the 20th Century
Abstract
Pierwsza połowa dwudziestego wieku przyniosła światu dwa konflikty o zasięgu globalnym oraz ludobójstwo na bezprecedensową skalę. Był to w znacznej mierze okres zdominowany zarówno w zakresie refleksji politycznej, jak i polityczno-prawnej praktyki, przez różne formy militaryzmu, totalizmu i autorytaryzmu, często o zabarwieniu nacjonalistycznym czy nawet rasistowskim. Pojawienie się na scenie intelektualnej i politycznej nurtów takich jak bolszewizm, faszyzm czy nazizm odcisnęło się złowieszczym śladem na dziejach Europy i świata. Wszelkie próby zrozumienia, jak mogło dojść do zbrodni państwowych na niespotykaną wcześniej skalę w okresie, w którym wciąż żywy był optymizm poznawczo-społeczny pozytywizmu, wymagają uwzględnienia analizy z perspektywy historii idei politycznych…
